Comments - Lovely kabuki scene of a beauty happily reading a long letter, holding it up in her outstretched hands as she smiles with delight. She stands in front of an elaborately carved gate with curtains hanging in the doorway, her face an expression of joy at receiving the message. A young nobleman watches her from the left, leaning forward anxiously, smiling slightly. The woman at right turns her face away, hiding behind her sleeve. Her kimono is shaded from plum to soft pink, patterned with blossoms and tied with a checked obi with a chrysanthemum design. All three wear chunky wooden sandals. An intriguing image with wonderfully expressive faces and an attractive fall setting with colorful maple leaves framing the night sky.
