Beautifully drawn with a wonderful sense of realism and finely printed with rich jewel-tone colors, these designs are a great example of Yoshitoshi's mature artistic style. A great choice for a Yoshitoshi collector.

Kusunoki Tatewaki Masatsura Rescuing Ben no Naishi, 1881 - Terrific image of the noble samurai Kusunoki Tatewaki Masatsura defending a lady of the court, Ben no Naishi, who cowers behind him on the floor. The brave samurai prepares to draw his sword, a proud look on his face, wearing a purple robe patterned with white flowers. A great woodblock depiction of this heroic act, with delicate line work in the hair and fine bokashi shading in the background.
