Nakamura Shikan IV as a Fireman - Great kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as a fireman during a blaze, holding a lantern aloft as he looks up into the night sky. His quilted robe features a striking image of a dragon and flames above crashing waves. Behind him, figures hurry through the dark street, rushing to put out the fire. Fantastic detail in the intricate quilting, with a hand-applied spatter of dark red pigment across the sky to simulate flying embers.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Very slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Small loss, a couple wormholes, repaired. Slight toning, a few spots. Writing in red on background. Please see photos for details.
