Harunobu (1724 - 1770) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Playing Hanetsuki

Comments - Lovely design of two young girls playing a game of hanetsuki using decorated paddles. Traditionally played at New Year's, the game is similar to badminton. The colorful shuttlecock hangs in the air between the girls, hovering next to the pink plum blossoms. A charming scene with attractive color, the folds of the black coat delicately embossed.

Artist - Harunobu (1724 - 1770)
