The Courtesan Handayu of the Nakaomiya House of Pleasure

Series; Folded Love-letters

The Courtesan Handayu of the Nakaomiya House of Pleasure - Attractive image of the courtesan Handayu of the Nakaomiya House strolling through the street, looking down with a pensive expression. Her hands are tucked inside her red under robe, held up to her face beneath the cloth. A large paper lantern rests at her feet, and in the room at right, an elegant bonsai tree and plants are arranged in a ceramic planter decorated with a red sun above splashing waves. The title cartouche takes the form of a folded love letter at upper left, which is also the title of the series. A lovely design, rarely seen in reprint.
