The Twelfth Month - Handsome, large format modern portrait of a maiko in the twelfth month, with snow falling against a wintry gray sky. She wears a light blue kimono patterned with snowy bamboo leaves, tied with a dark red brown obi with a design of swirls in metallic gold pigment. The stylized handling of the snow creates an interesting abstract effect. A lovely image from this rarely seen series which was produced in a limited edition of 150. This print is numbered 36 in pencil in the bottom margin, and printed on watermarked paper. A terrific subject for display.
