Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Two Kabuki Scenes

Comments - Interesting uncut page featuring two chuban sized kabuki scenes. At top, a samurai in a striking dragon print kimono scowls angrily at a beauty sitting beside him, his woven hat tucked under his arm. The beauty looks at him with a coy smile as she tilts her head, while her companion frowns unhappily at him. Below, there elegantly dressed noblemen scowl at each other. The black robe at left has a beautiful burnished scroll pattern. Nicely detailed, with additional burnishing on the black areas of the beauty's kimono at top.

Artist - Meiji era artist (unsigned)
