Beauty Standing in the Snow at the Tomb of Umewaka at Mokuboji - Lovely portrait of a beauty standing in the snow at Mokuboji, a temple built over the tomb of Umewaka. According to legend, Umewaka was stolen as a child by slave traders and buried at this site on the bank of the river. She smiles as she looks back over her shoulder, an umbrella in her hand. She wears a red kimono with a cracked ice pattern over a print under robe with ducks on it. Wooden pilings line the shore, and a few birds float on the water. An attractive Edo era beauty portrait by this rarely seen artist.
