Courtesan in a Doorway

Comments - Lovely image of a courtesan pausing in front of a doorway between sliding shoji panels. She looks down with a sweet smile, shyly holding her sleeve to her chin. Her kimono is decorated with a blossoming tree, worn over a green print robe and red under robe, tied with a red obi featuring a fierce dragon. In the room behind her, a low red lacquer table holes covered dishes and a bowl of food. A fan-shaped inset at upper left shows a view of a temple and pagoda rising above the treetops. Just below a gourd-shaped cartouche is framed by a vine and blossom. A beautifully detailed design.

Artist - Eisen (1790 - 1848)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some soiling. Several small holes. Some staining at edges. Please see photos for details.
