Comments - Attractive portrait of a maiko or apprentice geisha in Kyoto, beautifully dressed in a pale yellow kimono patterned with leaves and berries. Her pink under robe features an intricate pattern in white, rose, and gold with embossed lines. Her hair is arranged with clusters of colorful flowers and ornaments, including hairpins that look like cards with thread wrapped around them and dangling silver mica beads. The background features an allover shimmering mica. A lovely design, beautifully detailed and printed. This subject appears in Amy Reigle Newland's book "The Female Image: 20th Century Prints of Japanese Beauties." A rare shin-hanga print and a great choice for a collector.
