Lion Dance Performance

Comments - Fantastic illustration of lion dancers performing for members of the Meiji Imperial court. The children are dressed in exotic Chinese costumes trimmed with colorful ruffles, with three working each lion. The fierce lion heads and tails are trimmed with soft yellow and white fur, embossed with delicate lines. They dance gracefully on a stone verandah surrounded by blossoming peonies, the ladies of the court watching from a balcony draped with the chrysanthemum mon or crest of the Meiji Imperial family. A delightful image with wonderful detail and vibrant color.
