Famous Geisha Compared to the Thirty-six Poets - Lovely woodblock from a charming series by Toyokuni III depicting celebrated geisha and courtesans paired with verses by the famous Thirty-six Poets. Each image features elegant beauties in a scene from daily life, with a verse enclosed in a title cartouche with a seasonal motif. Beautifully drawn with delicate line work and fine detail, some including embossing, these colorful images would make a wonderful framed display, either singly or in groups. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this series in its collection.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small hole, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and stains, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
