The Pine-Tree of Successful Conclusion, 1843 - 1844 - Attractive Kuniyoshi triptych featuring beauties sailing in boats. Two women hang onto the edges of the boat at left as it tilts to the side, brushing against a roofed pleasure boat at right. A beauty smiles at them from inside the cabin, gripping the wooden support as the ships bobs in the choppy water. A fence at left encloses the famous "Pine Tree of Success," the branches hanging out over the river and framing a view of a distant bridge and other boats. A charming subject with a handsomely detailed setting.
