Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Tosa Shurinosuke, 1857

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play commonly known as "Domo Mata" of the artist Tosa Shurinosuke standing in a doorway, frowning angrily as he looks out from behind sliding wooden panels. He wears an elegant kamishimo patterned with alternating bands of checks and cherry blossoms over a blue kimono and red under robe, his hair pulled back into a neat topknot. The end of a sword and a folding fan can be seen on the floor of the room before him. A handsome design, nicely composed and detailed.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown
