From an untitled series of ten actors with irises

Actors with Irises - Handsome kabuki portrait from an untitled 1865 Kunichika series depicting actors with irises. Orange backgrounds filled with oversized blossoming irises and lush green foliage provide striking settings for the expressive half-length figures. Each character wears a blue and white cotton summer kimono appropriate to the setting. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair, these attractive early designs by Kunichika have strong graphic appeal.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. Horizontal centerfold. Slight toning, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
