Sumo Wrestler in the Ring

Comments - Handsome portrait of a sumo wrestler in the ring, wearing a belt that opens into a fringed apron that is worn for the ring entering ceremony. He stands with his feet firmly spread apart and his arms at his side, his bulky frame filling the page. His red apron is trimmed with intricately detailed fringe that is swinging with his movement. A great image from this timeless sport.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight tape residue on reverse at edges from previous mounting. A few holes, repaired. A few creases, slight rubbing at edge. Please see photos for details.
