Comments - Charming woodblock of beauties fishing for ayu or sweetfish along the rocky shore of the Tama River. Two women wade through the shallow water, the beauty at right reaching over to grab one the fish swimming by. Her lavender kimono is tucked up at the waist, and she pulls her sleeve back to keep it from getting wet. The woman in the center smiles at her companion, carrying a basket for the catch. Behind her, a girl kneels on the bank holding a shallow basket tray of fish. At left, two women enjoy the scenery, one shielding her eyes with her hand as she looks off into the distance. Behind the women, fishermen use nets and cormorants to catch fish. A lovely design with an attractive landscape setting, with Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. Attractively colored with nice detail in the clothing and soft shading in the sky.
