Messenger at a Samurai Encampment - Interesting kabuki scene of a messenger reporting to a samurai encampment beneath a pine tree. He stands at left, throwing his hand up above his head as he looks up with a frown. At right, an elderly samurai with white hair and a younger warrior looks on with concerned expressions. A cloth panel emblazoned with the hollyhock leaf crested of the Tokugawa clan separates the figures .The actor in the center is Ichikawa Danjuro. Nice large expressive figures with fine detail in the armor.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few spots. Please see photos for details.
