Ushiwakamaru Battling on Gojo Bridge

Comments - Handsome depiction of Ushiwakamaru, the young Yoshitsune, during his fight with Benkei on Gojo Bridge. The agile youngster leaps high into the air to avoid his adversary, seeming to float weightless in the air as he throws his hand high. He wears a white robe over his head, the sleeve of his green kimono fluttering beside him. A pagoda in the background is rendered in pale gray silhouette against the darker hills and night sky, a very simple yet effective treatment. A terrific design from this famous story and a rarely seen subject. This print is a companion for one of Benkei.
