A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

A Procession of Young Women, 1864 - Handsome panoramic view of a procession of young women making their way along the shore. Two beauties armed with swords lead the way, followed by women carrying trunks over their shoulders and standard bearers. At right, a princess rides in an elegant enclosed palanquin bearing a paulownia crest on the roof, an attendant holding an umbrella over her. A stone government barrier marker can be seen at left, with tea stands at right. Ships dot the water, and a red sun blazes on the horizon, radiating red rays of light. A charming design with wonderful detail and fine bokashi shading in the water and sky. Only the second time we've seen this early Yoshitoshi triptych.
