A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Lady Tensho-in, 1886 - Charming portrait of Lady Tensho-in, the wife of the Tokugawa Iesada, who was shogun from 1853 to 1858. She smiles happily as looks up from the book in her lap, watching a young girl carrying a cat over her shoulder. She wears a lavender striped coat over a plaid kimono and red under robe, her hair pulled back into a thick ponytail with wings at the sides of her head. An alcove behind her holds a planter of blossoming narcissi. An attractive design, detailed with very fine line work in the hair. A rarely seen Yoshitoshi subject.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 13" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Horizontal crease. Some soiling. Please see photos for details.
