Original Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Print
Alarmed Samurai, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a samurai throwing his hands out in alarm, a worried expression on his face. He wears a striped coat with a black collar over a short gray print robe, leggings, and arm protectors. His thinning hair is pulled back into a slender topknot. The hilt of his swords are covered for traveling. An overturned tray lies on the floor at left next to a panel decorated with a scene of bamboo. A nice expressive figure.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight toning, creasing, and soiling, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
