Ichimura Kakitsu as Nozarashi Gosuke, 1865

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichimura Kakitsu as the otokodate or street knight Nozarashi Gosuke, He grins slyly as he tilts his head, looking out of the corners of his eye. He wears a black monk's mantle over a blue kimono with a bold white pattern, a letter in one hand and a sword in the other. At left, a tobacco set rests atop a bench, and buckets of water are stacked behind it in case of fire. A nicely detailed setting.
