Nihon Bridge in Tokyo

Comments - Lively view of the Nihonbashi or Nihon Bridge in Tokyo, with a horse-drawn wagon carrying passengers and rickshaws using a central lane while pedestrians walk on either side, separated by a black railing. Below the bridge, a boatman poles his craft alongside a small steam powered ship. At upper right, the top of the five-story Mitsui-gumi House, which housed the First National Bank, rises above the city. An interesting image showcasing the rapid modernization taking place in Meiji era Japan, nicely detailed.
