Original Yoshisuke Funasaka (born 1939) Japanese Woodblock Print
Abstract in Light Green, 1982

Yoshisuke Funasaka - After studying oil painting, Yoshisuke Funasaka began creating prints using a variety of techniques, including woodblock, silkscreen, and lithography, often combining processes in a single work. His designs are primarily abstract, using repeated shapes and forms with an emphasis on subtle variations. Favorite subjects include lemons, wavy vertical marks, and holes, made with punches or other methods. He exhibits internationally and is still active in printmaking, with his works are included in major collections across the globe. A great choice for a collector interested in contemporary Japanese printmaking.

Contemporary Woodblock Prints by Watanabe - Handsome design from a group of contemporary woodblocks published by the famous Watanabe Publisher of Tokyo. Watanabe commissioned contemporary artists to create designs which were printed and distributed by Watanabe to special customers only. The artists carved the blocks themselves, which Watanabe then printed on hand-made Torinoko paper. These are great designs by a variety of contemporary artists, including Fumio Fujita, who is well known for his images of trees. Subjects range from landscapes and city scenes to figures and abstract designs. A terrific choice for display, either singly or in groups.
