Famous Geisha Compared to the Thirty-six Poets - Lovely woodblock from a charming series by Toyokuni III depicting famous geisha and courtesans paired with verses by Japan's famous Thirty-six Poets. Each image features elegant beauties in a scene from daily life, with a poem enclosed in a title cartouche along with different decorative elements. Some images include embossing, a deluxe printing technique. Beautifully drawn with wonderful detail in the settings and kimono fabrics. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this series in its collection.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small loss at corner, hole, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and spots, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
