Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Beauty with an Umbrella Kakemono, circa 1830 - 1844

Comments - Lovely kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty taking a stroll. The young woman smiles happily as she looks to the side, carrying an umbrella in one hand and a cloth-wrapped parcel under her arm. Her checked kimono features a repeated motif of gourds with writing on them, worn over a tie-dyed red under robe. She wears chunky wooden geta sandals and her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with ribbons. A charming Edo era portrait, beautifully suited to the vertical kakemono format.

Image Size - 28 3/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Small hole, repaired. Slight toning, a few creases, lightly rubbed spot. Please see photos for details.
