Ichikawa Danzo VI as Hige no Ikyu, 1862

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danzo VI as the enraged elderly daimyo Hige no Ikyu. He flings his hand out at his side in alarm as he leans forward a terrible expression on his face, his lips tightly pressed together. His long white hair falls loosely over his shoulders, and he wears a striking kimono patterned with floral motifs between bands of golden clouds. A blossoming cherry tree frames the sky above. A great design, beautifully detailed with embossing on the hair.
