Series; Modern Views of the Four Seasons

Summer Section, 1856 - Terrific view inside a teahouse with Prince Genji walking along the hallway of the upper story. He wears a blue coat over his patterned kimono, smiling as he looks over his shoulder. A beauty stands close behind him, holding her kimono sleeve to her chin. In a room at left, one beauty dozes with her head on a pillow as her companion wakes up at the visitor's arrival, pushing the quilt back as she sits up. Several men look over the railing at right at a beauty below fanning her back, her kimono pushed down to the waist. A man stands nearby, smiling and drying the side of his face with his robe after taking a bath. An intriguing subject with wonderful detail in the lively figures and architectural setting. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
