Original Kokan Kojo (1891 - 1988) Japanese Woodblock Print
Marketplace in Java

Series; Landscapes and Customs of the World

Marketplace in Java - Interesting view of a busy marketplace in Java, with vendors selling fruits and produce along the side of the road. The street is busy with pedestrians, and a man drives a horse-drawn cart at right. A lively and colorful scene with an attractive, sketch-like quality that captures the energy of the subject. This print comes with the original heavy paper folder with a label and string tie closure.

Artist - Kokan Kojo (1891 - 1988)

Image Size - 15 3/8" x 11 3/4" + margins as shown; folder size 19 1/4" x 15 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Drying hole at top corner. Light toning, line across top from original tissue paper overleaf (no longer attached or included). Please see photos for details.
