Nakamura Shikan IV as Ishikawa Hachizaemon, 1869

Comments - Terrific okubi-e or large head kabuki portrait of the actor Nakamura Shikan IV as Ishikawa Hachizaemon, grimacing with rage as someone thrusts at him a morsel of food on the tip of a sword. His hair is pulled back into a thick ponytail tied with an embossed white cord, and he wears a blue green kimono over a light blue under robe. A great expressive figure in the desirable large head format.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 1/8" + margins as shown
