Utamaro (1750 - 1806) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Enjoying the Evening Cool on the Banks of Sumida River

Takamizawa Reprints - Handsome reprint by the venerable Takamizawa publisher. Takamizawa was known as one of the finest reprint publishers of the 20th century, and produced some of the highest quality ukiyo-e woodblock reprints of all time. A great opportunity to acquire a fine reprint of a classic ukiyo-e design.

Comments - Beautiful Utamaro triptych of beauties strolling along the Sumida River enjoying the fireworks display and the cool evening weather. The crowded Ryogoku Bridge and many boats are silhouetted in the background against an evening sky. In the center panel, a man fires a rocket from a boat, a trail of red sparks curling across the sky. A fantastic design showing this classic summer pastime in Edo, with beautiful soft color, bokashi shading, and fine detail. Would make a great framed presentation.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 15 1/4" x 30 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
