Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Visiting a Garden

Comments - Charming scene of a garden in summer with visitors enjoying the flowers. In the foreground, a beauty pauses as she crosses a wooden bridge to look back at her companion, a fan decorated with a moonlit landscape in her hand. The young man smiles back at her while three children play behind them. At upper right, a boy leans over the side of a boat with a net in hand. Wisteria hangs from a trellis at right, a irises bloom along the walkway. An attractive design in an unusual large format.
