Comments - Handsome triptych depicting three kabuki scenes. In a scene from the paly commonly known as "Musume Dojoji," Ichikawa Danjuro plays the shirabyoshi dancer Hanako. She wears a red cherry blossom print kimono and stands under a flowering cherry tree, a temple bell hung overhead. The center image shows two street knights arguing, clashing their shakuhachi flutes as weapons. From left, the actors in the center panel are Ichikawa Sumizo, Iwai Matsunosuke, and Ichikawa Danjuro. At right, a young man in a gray robe waves a stick as the samurai behind him grips a sword over his head with both hands. The actors in that panel are Ichikawa Shinzo and Ichikawa Danjuro. A great design with large, colorful figures, detailed with fine line work in the hair and burnishing on the black robes.
