The Great Battle of the Koromo River, 1865 - Dramatic depiction of the Battle at Koromo River with fighting taking place along the shore next to rushing torrents of water. Two warriors struggle in hand-to-hand combat, one pinning the other down, preparing to slay him with his short sword, the pair glaring at each other with contempt. The fantastic natural setting creates a heightened drama, adding to the energy and action of the battle. An early Yoshitoshi samurai subject.
