Kabuki Confrontation, 1877

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a confrontation between two men. The fellow at right lunges towards the man standing in the doorway at left, while the beauty attempts to intervene, holding her hand out in a stopping motion. She smiles sweetly, trying to diffuse the situation, but the man glares back at her with an angry frown. He carries an umbrella, and snow can be seen falling through the night sky beyond. Interestingly, a chanter and a musician playing the shamisen can be seen sitting on a platform at right. Nice large expressive figures, beautifully detailed with burnishing on the three black kimono and the black kimono collar.
