Comments - Charming scene from the story "A False Murasaki's Country Genji," a parody of the beloved "Tale of Genji" which recounts the adventures of Mitsuuji (the Country Genji). Here Mitsuuji peers in through an open window as he sits on the verandah, smiling at the princess inside. She smiles back sweetly, shyly holding her sleeve to her chin as she sits atop a cushion, one hand resting on the white fur top of a black lacquer armrest. Through the doorway, the young girl serving as Mitsuuji's page, holding his sword upright, looks out over the blossoming cherry trees at the figures strolling along the pathways between rice fields. Lovely detail in the architectural setting and furnishings, including embossing on the white fur. The first time we've offered this attractive design.
