Floating Fans down a Stream, 1878 - Attractive Chikanobu triptych depicting a group of beauties enjoying a spring afternoon. The women are gathered along the edge of a narrow winding stream, tossing their fans into the flowing water and watching them drift along with fallen cherry petals. On the verandah at left, beauties kneel around a low table writing poem onto the colorful fans. The colorful landscape includes large peony blossoms and shrubs covered with yellow or red flowers dotting the grounds, and a blossoming cherry tree framing the scene at right. An attractive design with wonderful detail in the elegant kimono fabrics.
