Washio Saburo Fighting a Bear

Comments - Great image of Washio Saburo fighting a black bear in the forest during the Battle of Ichi-no-Tani. The brave young man grips the animal in a headlock, his fist drawn back and ready to strike. A blue rushing waterfall makes a dramatic backdrop for the struggle. The scene takes place on the slope of Hiyodori Gorge, where Minamoto no Yoshitsune was leading a surprise attack on the Taira fortress at Ichi-no-Tani below. A terrific design with excellent detail in the armor and expressions, and a nice setting deep in the forest.
