Courtesan beside a Water Basin, 1866

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of a rather bedraggled courtesan leaning over a stone water basin with a dipper in hand. She looks out of the corners of her eyes with a strange grin, her disheveled hair falling over her shoulders and back. An expressive figure with fine detail in the hair and textile patterns, and soft shading in the night sky.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Creasing, slight toning, small stain at edge. Please see photos for details.
