Sawamura Tossho II as Shirokiya Sajiro, 1858

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene from the play "Meoto Musubi Musume Hyobanki" of Sawamura Tossho II as Sajiro of the Shirokiya timber store. He pauses outside the entrance to the shop, lifting his woven hat as he looks suspiciously over his shoulder, a long letter in his other hand. He wears a light blue kimono patterned with plovers in flight and swirling water over a striped kimono and red under robe, and zori sandals. A nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
