Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Agemaki no Sukeroku, 1850 - Terrific kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Sukeroku in the play "Sukeroku kuruwa no hanamidoki." He stares to the side with a frown, his brows furrowed and one hand clenched into a fist at his chest and the other holding an umbrella. He wears a black kimono over a red under robe, and has a purple sash tied rakishly around his forehead. The figures appears as if emerging from an archery target with a giant arrow protruding from it. A fantastic, bold design in an unusual format. A great choice for a collector.
