Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Genji and Beauties, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Attractive scene of Prince Genji and two beauties in an interior. He smiles as he looks up at the woman standing at his side, who shyly holds her sleeve to her chin. Her kimono features a design of carriage wheels, cherry blossoms, and spider webs. At right, another beauty pauses to look back over her shoulder as she carries a lantern. The folding screen behind her is decorated with a winter landscape of a blossoming plum tree beside a river with a pair of mandarin ducks. A charming image with a nicely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 19 1/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with panel. Stitching holes at one side of each panel, a couple small wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
