Oshu, Moon over Mano Village, Customary Silk Fulling, Princess Nadeshiko and Tsuchikuro, No. 34 - Fantastic scene of the young Princess Nadeshiko fulling silk cloth by the river under the moonlight. Surprised by the robber Tsuchikuro, the beauty throws the wooden fulling mallet at her attacker, striking him in the head as he struggles with a length of white silk. A full moon shines in the sky above and willow tree branches wave gently in the wind, the scenic beauty belying the violence of the attack. The inset above shows a woman playing flute with two small attendants. Detailed with a dusting of mica over the night sky. A dramatic subject.
