Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple meeting in a small room as two men eavesdrop outside. In the center, the priest Hojo Tokimune sits on a carved red lacquer chair holding a scroll, looking down at his companion with a worried frown. The beauty Otomi leans against his shoulder as she places her hand on his thigh, grinning up at him although he is clearly uncomfortable. At left, the boatman Yosaburo kneels atop another man, gripping his oar and waving his hat in the air. At right, a samurai frowns unhappily as he holds up a folding fan with writing on it. Nice expressive figures.
