Ushiwakamaru Fighting the Robber Kumasaka Chohan

Comments - Fantastic scene of the young Ushiwakamaru fighting the legendary robber Kumasaka Chohan and his gang of thieves at an inn. In the center, the youthful warrior leaps agilely in the air, gripping his sword with one hand as he tosses a fan at Chohan with the other. The robber grimaces at him angrily, leaning forward with a naginata behind his back. At left, a kneeling samurai holds up a lantern, watching Ushiwakamaru with a sober frown. Trunks and boxes of goods are scattered across the floor, and a white drapery patterned with large black crests frames the scene overhead. A great depiction of this legendary incident from the life of the great swordsman Yoshitsune, who was known as Ushiwakamaru as a boy.
