Genji Drawn in Different Styles: Viewing Cherry Blossoms, 1869

Comments - Lovely triptych depicting Prince Genji and two beauties enjoying the blossoming cherry trees from a verandah overlooking a river. The nobleman looks up from the pocket watch in his hand to grin at the woman beside him, who giggles shyly into her sleeve. In the center, their companion waves excitedly as she leans over the railing. At right, a pagoda and the roof of a temple can be seen above the foliage, and a couple of pedestrians cross a wooden bridge. The opposite shore is thickly forested with pink cherry blossoms among the rich green trees. A charming collaborative design with lovely color and detail. The first time we have come across this subject.
