Series; Fashionable Pleasures of New Year

Brazier, 1847 - 1852 - Lovely image of beauties in an elegant mansion at the New Year. In the center, a beauty carrying a fine lacquer brazier filled with glowing red coals on a cold winter day. She smiles as she looks back over her shoulder at her companion, dressed in a pretty red and white kimono patterned with floral motifs. The woman at left gestures behind her with her sleeve held to her chin, while a matron opens the sliding panels of the room at right. The wall behind them is decorated with a scene of blossoming yellow flowers along the edge of a flowing stream, with stylized golden yellow clouds overhead. A beautiful design with attractive color and wonderful detail, in very nice condition.
