Boating on a Moonlit Night, 1850

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a samurai in a boat on a moonlit night. His vessel pulls up alongside a larger ship with a blue drapery bearing the paulownia crest used by the Minamoto clan. The warrior looks up with an angry frown, his brows furrowed as he holds one of his swords against his shoulder. Undulating waves lap against the boats and a crescent moon glows in the evening sky. A handsome design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Tear at edge, a few wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
