Original Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904) Japanese Woodblock Print
Water Seller

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of a water seller tipping out a cup of water with one hand, a dipper in the other. He looks up with a slightly worried expression, dressed in a boldly patterned checked kimono, a white cloth tied about his forehead. A stand beside him holds additional shallow yellow cups nestled among green leaves, topped with a sign. Behind him, a bridge can be seen in dark silhouette against the river along with boats on the water. A striking design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)
